Get Wedding-Ready Based On Your Skin Type

Calling all soon-to-be-brides! You’ve got the ring; you’ve set the date. Now it’s time to get serious about your skincare. Just as you would put money aside for a makeup artist or hairstylist, build skincare into your wedding budget to ensure you look your best on your big day. Great skin won’t just make your wedding photos better; it will also help you feel more powerful, beautiful, and confident as you walk down the aisle. Plus, it’s an opportunity to build habits that keep you glowing even after the honeymoon.

Before we begin

Before we jump into prep that’s specific to your skin type, there are a few best practices that you can adopt no matter your complexion concern.

Every bride wants smooth, soft, supple lips. Start using our Hydrating Lip Peel a few weeks before your wedding to prevent chapping and dissolve any unwanted flakes.

No topical treatment can compare with a healthy internal system. Though it’s tempting to snack on comfort foods when you’re stressed, try to keep your diet clean with lots of fruits, vegetables, water, and herbal teas. If you have a serious inflammatory condition like acne, eczema, or rosacea, switch to an anti-inflammatory diet (no dairy, no wheat, no alcohol) and consider seeing a naturopath to help you narrow in on additional foods that may be causing inflammation in your body.

Normal Skin
Professional Help

If your skin is fairly balanced, you don’t need a lot of treatments beyond a simple facial with extractions. Book monthly appointments with your aesthetician starting three months before your wedding. This schedule will give you plenty of time to get your pores clean, your tone glowing, and your complexion hydrated and plumped.

At-home

To maintain the benefits of your facials between appointments, use a peel weekly. Our TCA Multi-Acid Face Peel is a gentle formula that prevents breakouts and hydrates as it exfoliates. After peeling, add a few drops of our EGF Serum. Then roll with our Microneedling Tool to boost skin firmness and soften the look of fine lines. Use the serum twice daily and the roller up to five times per week. You may also want to start a weekly dermaplaning regimen. Our Dermaplaning Tool will help remove excess skin cells and fine facial hair, leaving your skin brighter and smoother in time for the wedding. For advanced dermaplaning users, try our Precision Dermaplaning Blades to expertly sculpt the area around the brows and carefully exfoliate the nose and upper lip.

Acne & PIH
Professional Help

For acne and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), the earlier you start, the better. Brides with acne should start seeing a pro at minimum 6 months before the wedding, but ideally 9 months prior, especially if you have cystic acne. Begin with appointments every two weeks. Your aesthetician will treat your skin to a series of deep exfoliation treatments and nutrient therapies to kill acne-causing bacteria and speed cell turnover. After a few months, you can move to a 3-week cycle to lift the remaining hyperpigmentation and continue improving the tone and texture of your skin.

At-home

Maintain results between treatments by using our TCA Multi-Acid Face Peel a few times per week. It will help speed your cell turnover and kill acne-causing bacteria. Twice daily, apply our EGF Activating Serum to encourage healing and improve skin texture. Follow it with our HA Hydrating Serum to prevent dehydration and add suppleness. Zap existing blemishes with a High Frequency Device to kill acne-causing bacteria and reduce inflammation. When all your acne is gone, you can add in our Micro-Roller to help dissipate lingering hyperpigmentation.

Eczema & Rosacea
Professional Help

Professional help is vital to getting inflammatory conditions like eczema and rosacea under control. Diet and lifestyle can have a huge impact on inflammatory skin concerns, so meet with a naturopath if possible. Also, begin booking appointments with an aesthetician 6-9 months before your wedding to treat your skin with gentle exfoliators and regenerating treatments that soothe redness.

At-home

Add a gentle exfoliator to your regimen like the TCA Multi-Acid Face Peel. This safe treatment will help increase cell turnover without further drying or irritating your sensitive complexion. Use it once weekly to enhance skin brightness and firmness. Twice daily, treat your skin with a hydrating, nourishing serum. Our EGF Activating Serum is especially good at reducing inflammation and encouraging healing.

UV Damage
Professional Help

The key to banishing UV damage is effective exfoliation. If you’re struggling with dark spots, you should start appointments with your aesthetician 8-9 months before your wedding. You want to encourage the skin to turn over every 21 days to effectively pull out the discoloration. Your aesthetician should use a combination of peels, serums, and microneedling to lift the discoloration and give your skin a spot-free glow.

At-home

In between appointments, use the TCA Multi-Acid Face Peel once a week. Apply EGF Activating Serum and HA Hydrating Serum twice daily and add microneedling to your routine 5-7 times per week. This regimen will help boost your collagen production and fade dark spots. And remember—stay out of the sun and wear sunscreen!

Body Care
Professional Help

If you have serious body acne, consider booking an appointment with an aesthetician or dermatologist a few months before your wedding. In most cases, good at-home body care can solve mild skin issues, but if you have a serious problem, better to leave it to a professional who can offer you safe extractions, peels, and even phototherapy treatments to reduce your acne.

At-home

Use our TCA Multi-Acid Body Peel once a week starting three months before the wedding. This gentle peel is great for all skin types. It helps kill acne-causing bacteria, soften keratosis pilaris, and even diminish eczema. Even if you don’t have any of these concerns, it can help brighten and hydrate so you’re excited to show off your shoulders in your wedding gown.
